How do I create a safe tour?
LEADERSHIP
The Artist and Tour Management clearly, vocally state that the tour has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for harassment and discrimination. Tour books, backstage signage and bus signage reinforce the message.
SAFETOUR can help provide you with language and graphics to post internally as well as #SAFETOUROFFFICAL logos and suggested social posts to share the message.
TRAINING
Give your CREW the skills to meet your new expectations. Tours are composed of people from different backgrounds, ages, races, genders and sexual orientations. You can’t assume a level of knowledge. You have to teach it.
SAFETOUR , in partnership with industry expert Right To Be, has developed a training for your crew based on bystander intervention. Our 1.5 hour course is appropriate for the entire crew, managers, artists, business and legal managers. It addresses the many nuances of touring life in the least corporate way possible.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Each tour must develop an internal system for accountability. Training is a good start, but it’s not enough. The tour must clearly define the system to identify, vet and process grievances. Persons exhibiting poor behavior must face consequences.
SAFETOUR has a network of tour managers working together to create a simple, effective system of accountability. Let us connect you today.
